曾兩度在港公映、被喻為史上最偉大愛情音樂劇的《歌聲魅影》，距首度公演 24年後終於揭曉故事結局！萬眾期待的續集《 Love Never Dies》，昨日在倫敦亞達菲歌劇院矚目首演，創作人安德魯洛伊韋伯透過音樂及為大眾熟識的角色，再次向世人證明愛不死，也證明他及《歌聲魅影》仍具強勁叫座力，《 Love Never Dies》甫公演預售票房已大收逾億港元。

由英國殿堂音樂家安德魯洛伊韋伯（ Andrew Lloyd Webber）創作、其前妻 Sarah Brightman主演的音樂劇《歌聲魅影》（ The Phantom of the Opera）， 86年上演以來獲公認為全球最成功的音樂劇之一，此劇曾於 95年及 06年在香港上演，大收旺場。 24年後，韋伯嘔心瀝血炮製的《歌聲魅影》續集《 Love Never Dies》聯同矚目的原聲唱片，昨日同步面世。

10年後再燃三角戀
昨日在倫敦西區亞達菲歌劇院（ Adelphi Theatre）首演的《 Love Never Dies》，除獲得創作人韋伯舉家到場造勢外，連電影版《歌聲魅影》男主角謝拉畢拿（ Gerard Butler）及來自中、日、韓的歌唱家也盛裝現身，可見這個首演被視為各界矚目盛事。
音樂劇《歌聲魅影》改編自法國同名小說，故事背景設於 1861年，講述隱居巴黎歌劇院內神出鬼沒、毀了容的作曲家 Phantom，與女高音 Christine之間的愛情故事，結尾中 Phantom於巴黎歌劇院被 Christine的愛與勇氣打動，放走了她和其愛人 Raoul之後便神秘消失，全球無數觀眾都在揣測故事的後續會如何發展。
昨日韋伯終於向世人揭曉答案，他花了 20多年孕育出來的續篇《 Love Never Dies》，從 Phantom神秘消失的 10年後揭開序幕，原來他在大西洋對岸紐約的科尼島（ Coney Island）落腳，令洋溢着歡笑的遊樂場蒙上了鬼魅的陰影。 Christine在不知情的狀況下，受邀至科尼島演出，當她與丈夫 Raoul及 10歲兒子 Gustave到達紐約後，才發現誘使她到科尼島的匿名經理人的真實身份，她與 Raoul及 Phantom之間的愛再度受到考驗。
其實韋伯創作《 Love Never Dies》期間經歷一波三折，備受考驗，他說：「 15年前我就有了創作續集的想法，因為覺得《歌聲魅影》結局懸疑，還有發揮空間， 90年我看過一部關於科尼島的紀錄片之後，有了新故事的靈感。」
直到 06年韋伯再度與多名劇作家及導演討論發展續集的可能性， 07年秋季定出故事大綱後，他便開始創作新劇歌曲，花了兩年多時間才完成。去年他患上初期前列腺癌，在意志力的驅使下暫時克服病魔，回到工作崗位上完成製作，這充滿波折的戲外戲，令《 Love Never Dies》更受外界期待。

預售票房火速破億耗資 600萬英鎊（約 7,200萬港元）的《 Love Never Dies》，昨日終於在倫敦正式首演，雖然有劇評人批評故事有不少犯駁的地方，但整體製作華麗又富娛樂性，當地預售票房已大收 900萬英鎊（約 1.08億港元），火速回本。再加上同步推出的原聲 CD，看來韋伯不只證明了愛不死，也證明其賺錢能力不死。

人物誌：歌劇才子奪獎無數創作經典音樂劇《歌聲魅影》的英國歌劇大師安德魯洛伊韋伯（ Andrew Lloyd Webber），快將 62歲，他生於倫敦一音樂世家，弟弟 Julian乃著名大提琴演奏家。韋伯 6歲開始作曲， 9歲已有作品面世，其後考入牛津大學摩德林學院攻讀歷史，但未畢業又跑到皇家音樂學院發展其音樂劇事業，至今共創作了 13部音樂劇（詳見附表），歷年獲得無數榮譽，包括奧斯卡金像獎、格林美獎及東尼獎等等。
韋伯有過三段婚姻， 72年與首任妻子 Sarah Hugill結婚，二人育有一子一女； 84年再娶女高音歌手 Sarah Brightman，更安排她演出音樂劇《歌聲魅影》的女主角 Christine； 91年他與現任妻子 Madeleine拉埋天窗，育有兩子一女。去年 10月韋伯被證實患上前列腺癌，幸割除癌細胞手術十分成功，現已逐漸康復。

100： 100年前由法國名作家勒魯（ Gaston Leroux）撰寫的小說《歌聲魅影》，於 1910年出版，當年小說反應一般，曾一度停止印刷。
